Tickets are now available for the first-ever Grow & Tell.
This new North Canterbury event runs across two weekends in March and invites visitors into real gardens and farms usually not open to the public.
Choose a trail day and join a small guided group visiting multiple garden hosts across the region. Numbers are limited to protect hosts and create a relaxed, meaningful experience.

What is Grow & Tell?

Grow & Tell is a community edible gardens and farms trail across North Canterbury.

Across two weekends in March, local growers open real food-growing spaces and share how they grow food — from suburban backyards and community gardens to regenerative farms and small producers.

This is the first-ever Grow & Tell.

It’s not a garden tour and it’s not a festival. Grow & Tell is about connection — hearing real stories from people growing food in our region, seeing what’s possible in ordinary spaces, and building local food resilience together.

Visitors choose a trail day and join a small guided group moving between garden hosts. Each stop includes time to explore the space, hear the grower’s story, and ask questions.

Presented by Food Secure North Canterbury, Grow & Tell celebrates the many ways food is grown across our region and helps connect people to the knowledge and communities behind it.

Why You Choose a Trail

Grow & Tell is designed as a guided trail experience.

When you book, you select a specific trail group for the day. Your group moves together between gardens, attending scheduled sessions at each site.

We use a trail system because:

• Many hosts are private homes
• Some gardens are small or have limited parking
• Structured groups protect host privacy
• It allows real conversations and connection
• It creates a calm, high-quality experience

Each trail has a fixed capacity, so booking a specific group helps us manage visitor flow and ensure a positive experience for both hosts and visitors.

Visiting Gardens Safely

Grow & Tell takes place in real working gardens and farms. By attending, you acknowledge that you are visiting private and active growing spaces.

Please note:

• Visitors are responsible for their own safety
• Children must be supervised at all times
• Wear suitable footwear for uneven ground
• Follow host guidance and stay within designated areas
• Respect animals, tools, and working environments

By purchasing a ticket, you agree to take personal responsibility while visiting sites and to help us keep the experience safe and respectful for everyone.
